Physical and motor development
This development involves acquiring movement, control and coordination of the whole body (gross motor skills: walking, running, jumping…) or of one part of the body (fine motor skills: flipping through pages, colouring, cutting…)
- ✦Organizes physical activities suited to the child’s level of development:
- •Gross motor skills: crawling on a safe surface, encouraging toddlers to take small steps; for older children: treasure hunts, balancing on one foot, Simon Says…
- •Fine motor skills: stacking blocks, toys to handle; for older children: modelling clay, cutting, painting…
- ✦Encourages the child to do things on their own: putting on their coat, buttoning it, zipping it up (fine motor skills and autonomy).
